Word of the Week-Energy Do you have enough?! This week the focus is on building and saving energy. Fire it up! Monday-Get back to the basics today-breathe fully, deeply and through your nose whenever you can during the day. Take a moment to relax & shift awareness inside. Tuesday-Drink at least 8 glasses of water, spaced throughout the day. Dehydration is one of th eleading causes for an energy slump during your day. Hydrate! Wednesday-As you exercise today, visualize yourself as you wish to become. Fast, healthier or more relaxed person. Get out in nature, even just lie down in the grass, & pay attention to what you feel. Thursday-Savor your food. Become aware of using food to suppress painful feelings like anxiety or loneliness, or as a substitute for unmet needs. By paying attention to what you body needs/craves you can better keep your energy sustained throughout the day. Eat when you are hungry, stop before you are full. Friday-Be fully present in your relationships. Give your loved ones the purity of your attention and unconditional love. Create energy by sharing it! Ways to Save Energy in your Home: Laundry-line dry clothes whenever possible; wash clothes in cold water Computer-set it to sleep mode after 30-60 minutes of inactivity electronics-unplug when not in use Lighting-replace incandescent bulbs with CFLs Water heater-lower the setting from 140 to 120 (minimum needed to guard against bacterial growth); install a high-performance shower head Air vents-move furniture & drapes away from them to help improve airflow; install and properly program a programmable thermostat Find out how energy-efficient your home is by visiting energystar.gov and click on “energy Star Home Advisor” Some local utility companies offer free energy audits.
